You are 30 years old. 
You have a child and a husband. 
You have a good life and a mom and step dad who love you. 
You just connected with your biological father on a DNA website after a 30 year absence. 
You are not missing a father figure in your life. 
Would you bother trying to get to know him at this point?

My husband just met his father for the first time a few months ago.... and it was lovely... his dad and new stepmom are flying out here for our sons first birthday and all parties couldn't be happier ^_^

I’m so happy you posted this and I hope you read this.... I am in the exact same boat! Except my step dad killed himself 15 years ago, but I am the same age as you and just found my biological dad. I was so hesitant and worried and hurt and didn’t want him to know about my husband or kids because I didn’t want him to hurt them. But! I called him and met him and told him everything. I had some time to tell him how I felt and to hear his side of his story. I don’t agree with how tho ya turned out growing up but I am honestly happy and feel more complete now that I have explored this part in my life. I don’t feel questions or anger or wonder any more. I have healed and got answers and most of all I was able to make my own decisions without having someone talk for me like I did when I was a kid. So I say yes please do try because maybe just maybe you will find answers, love, healing or just plain contentment in this journey !!

If I had a chance like you I would take it. I never really talked to my biological father we just don’t understand one another. I would die to be you right now you can have the best relationship with your father even after 30 year try. Try for your peace at mind so you don’t regret it later. And try because even if things don’t go as smooth as you hoped for you can always tell your self you really did try.

I would. I never met my father and he passed away when I was 15. That was my first time seeing him... in the casket (messed up I know). I always dreamed when I was younger that I would go on those old talk shows where they surprise you with a long lost relative. I was raised by my mom and step dad, I didn't lack a father figure but I would have liked to get to the know the person's who DNA I share. Plus a great relationship might come out of it and there's nothing wrong with having more people in your life that love you.

I’m 30 years old and have everyone in my life except my Dad. I lost him when I was 25 years old and it’s the most tragic thing of my life. Give it a chance and see how it goes. I’d take another day with my dad if I could. Things may not be sunshine and rainbows and could be difficult for you but try. His perspective may be beneficial to you in some way.

My father had the roughest life with family. Boys home to boys home, abusive father, everything you can name. 
A couple of years ago he connected with his step mother (my Mimi) and it’s been the best decision he could have made. We are so happy now as a family we’re reconnecting with that side. I went to my cousins bar-mitzvah recently. Haven’t been better 
Also I’m adopted I would give anything to know my biological parents. And you have the chance I wouldn’t give it up. 
If they want to put in effort I would also.
