Is the “clean your plate” mentality harmful to children?
This was inspired by a recent post. I can remember growing up and being told that I can’t leave the table, or go to bed until I “clean my plate”.
Personally, I’ve never enforced this upon my children as I can remember being overweight/hating to eat as a child. Not sure if this was all a direct consequence of this mentality, but I’m sure it played a part.
Do you think this mentality is harmful?
What should you say instead, to make sure your child is getting sufficient nutrients?
