Does everyone know their HCG?

I just talked to my doctor and they didn’t draw an hcg. Is that normal? They said they only draw it if they think something could go wrong with the pregnancy and you have a chance of miscarrying, but I thought it was something normal that was drawn.

My levels were not drawn until I started miscarrying. Then this pregnancy they drew labs to make sure it was viable since it was the month after my miscarriage. To answer your question, no. Labs are not drawn because most times the first appointment is between 8 and 12 weeks and out of the more common miscarriage stage.

With my first they did because I had a miscarriage before her, but now with my second they did not

I’ve never known mine. They didn’t even draw blood until I was about 12 weeks.

I never opted to have mine drawn. Like they said, unless they suspect something wrong, there’s not really any reason to. Everyone is different so, even if they did, and your pregnancy is normal, there’s a wide margin of difference between you and any other woman. I just looked at my first week’s test progressions to make sure my levels were actually rising.
