I need successful breastfeeding stories.. right now I'm nursing my newborn for going on 2 hours.. she won't stop eating and I know she must need it. my milk has barely come in yet. I feel like I'm starving her.. everyone tells me to just bottle feed.. I am on the verge of quitting.. I wanted to breastfeed so badly.. it was my only wish all of pregnancy. I would dream about it.. and now it's a nightmare.. please help. her latch isn't good.. she gets frustrated..  she wants it all hours of day and night.. :'(

2 hours is not eating, she's using u as a pacifier. gently lift her arm after like 10min and if it's relaxed and limp she's done eating, if it's tense and she pulls it back down she's still eating. cluster feeding does bring up supply, but not 2 hours a session..all that wil do is destroy your nipples and destroy the hopes of nursing. every time u nurse pull her chin down to widen her latch, keep at it until it's right. I am on my 13th minth of exclusively nursing, never gave a bottle. my daughter had a horribly shallow latch as a newborn, was tongue tied, and I was in excruciating pain. i had a home visit from a lactation consultant that is who told me my 1 hour nursing sessions were not right, then showed me the arm technique that I told u. keep at it, ur supply will improve and with practice and perseverance her latch will too. u can do it!

Cluster feeding is what brings up your supplies, you are not starving them! Stick with it, those first days and weeks are so so tough but it DOES get easier xxx we are all rooting for you

breastfeeding is hard! My first had a bad latch so I used a nipple shield to help him latch for the first six weeks. then I weaned him off of it. you can get them at Walmart or online. I also remember a two hour feeding session and just crying. my husband came in, took the baby and fed him some pumped milk I had in the fridge. it is so stressful at the beginning but really you can do it. I was nursing him and then pumping after each time I nursed because he had a bad latch and I was worried about my supply. I was exhausted and it was so hard. but then 8 weeks hit and things were so much easier. really you can do it if it's what you really want. you got this!

I was there just a couple of weeks ago and I just kept at it. Dude, he was literally feeding for 6-8 hours STRAIGHT at one point. It was awful. I used a stop watch one time and he was feeding for more than 16 hours a day. We ended up supplementing with an oz of formula twice a day and then everything was fine. I maintained my sanity, and now everything is great. We’re at week 8 on Wednesday, and he usually does’t even eat formula at all now. Just keep at it. It does get easier. Now breastfeeding is a cakewalk. I literally quit after the second day and exclusively pumped for 3-4 weeks, that’s how bad his latch was. I can’t believe how easy it is now.

You can do it mama! It gets sooo much easier soon. cluster feeding comes and goes a couple times at the beginning but then it'll get better. my little nugget used me as a pacifier and I was ok with it because it provided her comfort but it was tough at times.  I can promise fully though that itll only last a little longer and you'll come out the other side so happy and proud. I think it was really hard for me for about 6 weeks and now it's a breeze and she's 4 months. if it's too stressful, don't feel bad about formula. you need to do whatever works for you but just know if you push through it, it won't be hard for long.

We had a horrible start to BF. Baby would fall asleep every time so it would take forever to feed him and by the time we were done it was time to start all over again. I saw a lactation consultant to get help with his latch and they did a weighed feed to see how much he was getting which was really reassuring. We did frequent weight checks in the beginning because I was convinced I was starving him and they made me feel so much better. It takes a bit for you and baby to get the hang of it, they will get more efficient at taking the milk and it won’t take as long to nurse and you’ll get some of your life back haha. You’re doing a great job. Keep going! It does get better. I promise.
