i’m going in as a sophomore taking ap us history and “advanced” english. any tips for your girl?

As for English, just try your best to always improve your vocabulary. When you get your first tests/quizzes, try to remember the vocabulary used in questions that you didn’t understand so that you can look it up on your own time later. try reading often because it’ll help a lot later on. 
On one last note, always try to improve your grade. Be “that” student who constantly bothers to retake a quiz when your grade is slow. Ask for extra credit even if it’s just the beginning of the school year. Sit at the front of the class & make lots of eye contact because it’ll give the teacher te impression that you’re a good student & maybe later on you can use it as an advantage to boost up your grade or something. Be the teacher’s pet, even if your friends make fun of you. The teacher will like you and most likely won’t fail you. 😂

Study to understand, not to memorize. Making flash cards helped me through ap US history. Also, try to make a story of each era according to the timeline. So for example, first the 3 little piggies built a house. Then the wolf came. He huffed and puffed so strongly that it led to the pig’s house blowing away. The wolf did it because he wanted to eat the pig. The pig ran away because he was scared. Try to understand what intentions each person, figure, or whoever had. What did it lead to and how. Watch Mr.Green on YouTube. Crash course literally saved my life. Also, try quizlet if you’re too lazy to make cards lol

Sophomore year is so much easier than you would expect. Just get your work done and don’t stress too much about classes being labeled “advanced” because you’re in that class for a reason.

I loved ap us history. I had it last year. As long as you take the time to actually comprehend the historic events rather than to skim them through, you’ll be absolutely fine. Practice your writing style in adv English is all I can say.
