What week does your doctor start checking for dilation of the cervix?

I haven’t had any cervical exams yet but I’m going in today for my 34 week appointment and from this appointment forward I have weekly appointments until my due date. Did any of you start having your cervix checked this early or is it typically later on in the pregnancy?

My ob checked today no progress sadly only good news is baby is back head down so I don’t have to have a c section and I’m 35w

Mine don’t check at all unless there are concerns or you ask - it makes little difference whether or not you start dilating, and is rather uncomfortable. I had a friend at 5 cm for 3 weeks before baby finally came. Some people don’t start until the day labor begins... I typically ask around 39 weeks just for me to know, but less has definitely been better for me.

I’m 36W and I go in Friday. I haven’t been checked yet.. not sure when they will start.

Typically 36 weeks, unless they have cause for concern earlier.

Mines did check until 37 with my son bc there’s a risk of infection before then . This pregnancy it has not been done yet & I don’t expect it to until 37

They checked me at 33 weeks because I was having period cramps and what not and asked so they will probably be checking every appointment now.
