Anyone feel empowered after having your child?

Question

Like it went so quick and i just feel awesome, like our bodies create and weave together these beautiful little babies and we take the pain and bring them into the world, with blood, sweat and tears. I don’t know i just think its amazing and kinda have a newfound love for my body even though its not how i want it to look, my body had a child and I’m not ashamed of that.

I definitely did! I still do for the most part, but what’s changed (14 months after giving birth) is I wish it was easier to get my body back to the shape and tone it was before pregnancy. I only have a few pounds to go but I’m having a hard time getting the muscle tone back. It’s 100% worth it and I won’t be devastated if I can never get it back, but I do miss it! I’ll always feel like my body did an amazing thing though creating and delivering our perfect little man :)

I wish I had this mentality. I imagined I would. I was excited to feel empowered. Instead, my confident “I can tackle the world” outlook is gone. Now I just feel more and more useless and broken the more time that passes. I spend all day nursing or holding him (can’t set him down or he screams). I live in oversized clothes because nothing fits or bothers my c-section incision, and I’m still heavily bleeding. My husband has witnessed me 
in my most physically humiliating, which has put up a horrible barrier in our marriage. Pregnancy caused a chronic, no-cure blood condition so I when I’m not on the couch, I’m hooked up to an IV.  The house is a mess all of the time, and I’m failing my graduate course and falling behind at work.
Currently, I don’t feel that motherhood gave me strength or power or confidence. It’s broken me. 
Those of you who are enjoying motherhood and having all of what you imagined come true, smile and soak it up. Some of us are living through you.
