Rent-a-Family

Templeton

I read a super interesting article in the New Yorker called "Japan's Rent-A-Family Industry". Basically you can rent an actor to pretend to be a family member. There were tons of reasons for this (I'll include a few below). I'm wondering what you all think of the business and if you would ever use one? Are they useful or doing more harm than good?

Repacement family (who died or moved away) for the lonely.

Date for singles with marriage obsessed parents.

Granddaughter to visit an elderly woman.

Husband for a single mom on childcare/school meetings.

Parents or other friends/relatives needed at a traditional wedding.

Friend for a blind woman.

Whole stages weddings!
