I agree with the gift card thing. plus what if baby winds up being allergic to one kind or you personally just don't like them?

It’s fine to stock up, just don’t open packages you aren’t actively using so you can return any you don’t need. 
I read a study that said the average baby goes through 300 newborn diapers (10 diapers a day for roughly one month), so I used that info when registering. I registered for a couple giant packs of newborn diapers, and a couple of size 1. We probably won’t stock more than that due to space.
 
One thing you *can* stock up on without fear is wipes!

I wouldn't stock up on diapers. The majority voted size 1 and our daughter was in them for maybe a month. Every baby grows at their own pace. Rather than stocking up, I'd set aside money on a gift card and buy them as you need them.

I did this and I used this suggestion. Make sure you don’t open a package until you actually need it. You can exchange sizes even without a receipt normally as long as that store sells that package. 
Personally I’ve only gotten to size 2 so far. My son was in newborn for maybe 2 weeks and then size one for maybe a month and has been in size 2 since.

Don’t. My baby jumped sized very quick, she was newborn for a week or two and now she’s in size 4 at 4 month.

It completely depends on the baby. My daughter is 7 months and is already in a size 4. Just take the money you were going to spend on diapers and buy a gift card. I had to return so many it’s not even funny.
