Does the 5-1-1 rule always mean they'll accept you?

With my #1 my water broke, so I didn't have to worry about the hospital turning me away. I MUST know if the hospital will take me because my mom has to drive an hour to my house to watch my daughter and my step kids need to go with their mom (who is very difficult for her to take her kids). Should I wait until maybe 5-1-2 (5 minutes apart, lasting 1 minute, for 2 hours)

Can’t your mom come anyways? If the hospital sends you away but you are having contractions at home, maybe you feel more comfortable without having to take care of the kids at the same time.

Call and ask your doctor. I was terrified of getting to the hospital too early and so we were in constant communication with my midwife explaining my contractions. She told me to go when I couldn’t talk through them anymore. I got to the hospital and was 8cm dilated and my daughter was born 2 hours later.

My hospital wouldn’t let me be at home more than 12 hours after my water broke, no matter if there was contractions or not, so definitely call then and hear what they want you to do.

I would call them and ask, I was turned away until I reached 4cm and then they let me stay x

In the UK they will turn you away unless your 4cm. which sucks but it's just the general rule for most hospitals here.
