"shipping" puppies/live animals on planes

this is not an "adopt, don't shop debate", though I do understand that argument.

what's your take on buying a puppy (or other animal) online and having them flown to you?

I'm looking into this, and not sure how I feel about it. how is a puppy going to understand what's going on? won't it be scared? I'm also worried about not being able to see the place it comes from (what if it's a puppy mill?)

also, I'm sure somewhere it's possible that you could adpot a shelter animal and have it "shipped", too...

for reference, my husband is in LOVE with a very specific, dying breed of dog (very hard to find)- and has wanted one his whole life.
