Has anyone ever actually faced bullying based on their name?

I see people on here all the time say "that's just asking to get bullied" even for a relatively normal name... I understand if you name your kid voldemort or sausage they will get made fun of but do kids actually make fun of people's names all that often...? Honestly when I was a kid last names were made fun of more. A last name Lasher was called Eye-Lasher, and so forth. I'm just not sure this is a justified fear or a reason to not use a name you really like.
