(2hours and 15min labor)
had a 10:00 doctors appointment at 37w+6 and was checked and told that I was four centimeters dilated and 70% effaced. I was also having consistent contractions about 10 minutes apart. My doctor told me to go eat and walk around then meet him at the hospital that afternoon so that we could have the baby. I got to the hospital at 3:05 with contractions about 4-5 min apart. The nurse checked me and was like your like 3 centimeters, are you sure you want to have the baby today because your going to need pitocin. And I said my doctor told me to come in because he thinks the baby is coming today so I want to stay. Fast forward may 30 minutes; without pitocin I went from 3 centimeters to 5 with contractions only 2 minutes apart. Then the real pain set in. I requested an epidural and was told I had to wait a while and have my blood checked my doctor had to put in the order. I was having back to back contractions about 30-50 seconds in between so I started rushing them. I was like give me something because I am not getting a break. The contractions seemed continuous for what seemed like hours. I was then given stadol which did nothing for my pain but make me feel drunk. I felt like my body was ripping apart. Finally the nurse was like they’ll be here in 30 minutes with the epidural. It was good and bad news because I felt like I was dying but wasn’t prepared to wait that long. After about 15 min the anesthesiologist shows up but now I have to wait for him to prepare his stuff. I was going crazy from the nonstop contractions. And they were moving so fast to help me but still not fast enough. Finally I got the epidural which then took another 10 min to work. All this happened in only one hour they then broke my water and checked me. I was at a 10 and ready to push. I pushed 9 times and baby was born at 5:20, 7lbs 7oz 20.5 in.
