no catheter?

OK so when I had my daughter they didn't use a catheter I was telling a friend my birth story and she totally freaked out was like wait..  they didn't use a catheter and like I was always scared to have one before the pregnancy and everyone was telling me well u have to get over that cuz when u have a baby u gotta have one and I didn't even think about it when I was in the hospital but no I'm like wait was I seriously supposed to have one lol did u have one?  what are the risks of not getting one I had an extremely easy labor

The only time a patient would get a catheter is if they had a epidural because they can’t get out of bed.

I didnt have one but I did it all natural. My hospital doesn't do epidurals, they do spinals. But my labor progressed so quickly that I couldnt have it anyways. I went to the hospital at like 6 in the morning and was at a 4 and they sent me home! I was back by 1. And had my son at 3:50.

You only get it if you get an epidural bc it’s not safe for you to get up and move around bc it numbs certain parts of your body .. other than that you won’t need one

I don't remember having one with my daughter during labor but I remember being straight cathed after to empty my bladder. they had me hooked up to a catheter with my son as soon as I got my epidural. I also went to two separate hospitals with my kids so idk if that had anything to do with it.

i had one when I got my epidural. I was numb so I didn't feel them putting it in or taking it out

they tried to Cath me before I decided if I wanted the epidural or not my hospital caths anytime you are in labor natural or not they ended up not giving me one because 4 people tried to Cath me and couldn't do it I was screaming and crying in pain even when I got the epidural they didn't Cath me

I was given a catheter but I didn't have an epidural, told them from the start I didn't want one (epidural) so it also must depend on the hospital.

I had both kids natural. No drugs at all. My second one they gave me a catheter but the said my bladder was full and was preventing the baby to come down. Something like that. But as soon as they drained my bladder that was it. A few pushes and he was out lol

I had one in for 24 hours because I had a c section. They put it in right after the spinal so I couldn’t feel a thing.

I had one put in when I got my epidural, they removed it for me to push then straight cathed me after my son arrived (pushed for 2 hours) to empty my bladder again.
