picking at her fingers..?

our 2 year old picks at her fingers. I don’t know how she does this. I swear her fingers were fine all day yesterday and when I put her to bed last night, and now today they’re like this, and she picks at them and peels them...

Do some activities that help her relieve stress. 
And tell her pediatrician.

I’m just going to throw this in and by no means am I saying it’s this. So defo talk to her regular dr.
But. Ever since I was little I have a compulsion to pick my lip. I pick the skin sometimes til it bleeds or the skin comes off. It’s never to do with stress I do it all the time, in bed, driving, drinking coffee. I just can’t stop so it may be something similar for her. I’m 26 now and I’ve not been able to stop

UPDATE: I talked to my very good friend, who is also a mother of 2... she told me it may be something like her son did as well when he was younger, which was suck/chew on his fingers after a bath...

UPDATE: I’ve never seen her actually be the cause of this, like why it starts peeling in the first place. I always notice it when she’s picking at it after it’s already peeled. But I just don’t know what else the cause would be. I need to make her an appointment with our doctor anyways for her next growth and development appointment, so I can ask then about it.

my nephew does the same he is 11 and all his fingers are pretty bad he does it when he gets nervous, stressed and when he gets punished/yelled at. have to constantly tell him to stop so it wont get worse.

do you see her actually picking at them? My ex has a genetic type of mange, it’s not contagious by touch like with animals, and it causes his fingers to do that. He doesn’t have to pick them. It just randomly flairs up. 
If you see her actually picking tho there may be a psychological reason that needs to be addressed ASAP. She. Plus be dealing with some anxiety for some reason.

I agree with the comment above. But try activities specific to fine motor using her hands and fingers. Hopefully your doctor might have a better answer!
