How long will your baby be staying in your room?

I'm a first time mom and don't really have any experience with night time sleeping etc. I know it's best to keep your baby in the same room for as long as you can to help prevent SIDS but I'm just curious what everyone's plans is for how long your baby will stay with you? 
I'm worried about disrupting my husband sleeping to have our baby in our room too long since he will be going back to work after a week or two and I will be home with the baby so I'll be the one up at night the most.
recommendations on what you have done know the past if this isn't your first?

Everyone is different.. for me personally I kept my son in me and hubby's room until he was a little over a year(around 15 months) and I plan to do the same with our little lady. Good luck! There really is no right or wrong answer to this just what you are comfortable with! 😊

Planning to do at least 2-3 months while I’m on leave but will see whether we should do it for 4-6 later... 6 months is what’s recommended I think. Our nursery is just a few feet away from the bedroom.

our first we moved at 3 months and went through a sleep regression (even though she was in the same bassinet) because everything was different.. sounds, smells, and no more sounds of mommy and daddy.  so if all is going well,we will probably move sooner to avoid that regression

I find it very curious that Americans tend to put their baby in a nursery so fast. I expect to have the baby in our room for at least the first year or so, but of course it will depend on how independent she becomes in that time. Regarding the questions about husband's sleep. We will arrange so he can sleep in the other room if he really needs to.

The AAP recommends the baby sleeps with a parent. It doesn't have to be both parents and it doesn't have to be your room. If you have space in the nursery, you can add a couch or a single bed. If not you can choose for one of you to sleep in the livingroom or something. It actually wont be up to you. The baby will dictate where the baby wants to sleep lol. I'd say have a plan A, B, and C plus be open minded. When the time comes you want to have options and you'll know what works for you😁

My son slept in our room until he was 9 months old.. I feel like if you let it go past like 4 months it’s harder on the parents to move the child. I had a really hard time with it but it had to be done since this baby is due in October.  He does great in his own room now, and I actually sleep a lot better too! We have a video baby monitor and that helps a lot.
