Wedding invites printed on photograph paper?

Hi everyone,
So my fiancé and I are looking to print off our wedding invites as we have designed our own, and we have looked at many websites and stores who print them on proper paper but it is so expensive and hard to get the right sizing etc. So, we are considering printing the invites just on photo paper (just like printing off any photo) for 15c each or whatever. 
What do you think? Is that to cheap? Do people real care about invites?

I suggest using the Matte photo paper instead of the shiny kind, but I do like this idea 😊

It’s fine. I have done Photography for years. I recommend ordering a sample of it (one of each paper type) from a few printing Cos before deciding. Snapfish, mpix and Shutterfly are a few. 
I also recommend using a matte finish instead of gloss. It has a polished look that gloss lacks and it won’t show fingerprints

Use card stock it’s cheap but looks expensive and matte. It’s thick and durable
