For example if you and your partner bring home let’s say 2000 (after tax) - how much 💵 do you have after you pay rent/mortgage, necessity bills, & groceries? If you have 1000 left, then that’s 50% of your salaries left for fun stuff.
How much extra $$ do you think we need for the baby to be comfy?

It really just depends on your situation. I was extremely blessed with my first because I was gifted soooo many things and money that we didn't have to make a single purchase for our son until he was about 7 months. Now that we are spending on formula, dipers, and wipes we only truly spend around $100 a month....some may say that's inexpensive but let me explain how we do it. We go to Sam's club etc and buy a huge surplus of wipes that cost around $60 and will last probably for 3-4 months. We do the same with the diapers and milk. Now mind you we are not picky on diapers so whatever is cheapest we get. Also we have always used the cheapest formula on the shelves since he was born (Gerber gentle ready feed) and we buy that buy the case $40 a box...he needs about 2 boxes a month. So let's say we already have enough wipes and diapers we truly just spend $80 a month and the extra $$10 for a new outfit or snacks :) Instead of baby food we make our own using the fruits and vegetables my husband and I eat so we don't waste money on that.

Babies don't need a lot to be comfortable. They don't care if they're wearing name brand onsies or how stylish their room is. So it has a lot more to do with your expectations and standards than it does baby's.

Currently well over 50% but we’re moving to a much bigger house soon and our mortgage is going to be 4x as big plus we’ll lose my income. Things are going to be much tighter. I’m just making sure we’ve no debts and some healthy savings while I can...
