Advice on how to tell in-laws I’m pregnant? (Unhappy in-laws)

My husbands parents aren’t nice people. We have a very strained relationship. I’m currently 10 weeks and DREADING telling them. Even if they are “happy” they will give us a lecture. I am 26 and my husband is 29 and we have been together since high school. We’ve been married for a year and a few months. We own our house and have good jobs. They just don’t like that I “took their baby” when we went to purchase our house two years ago his dad called him to say he was too young to be buying a house with me and that he needed to rethink it.
On our wedding day we were also celebrating our 9 year dating anniversary and they finally said “welcome to the family” and that I better “take care of their baby” 
Tips on how to make this go easier?! I wanted to do it over the phone but I think that may make it worse. And I think a restaurant will be best so they can’t be TOO rude if they’re in public? But I can still ask for the check and leave if I need to. 
Gosh you guys this is causing me SO much anxiety. Every time I think about it I want to throw up!

What does your husband say about it? What would be best ?
Are you going to do a big announcement later ? I ask because if you are you could just let them find out then? And just say we didn’t tell anyone until this announcement. 
But bottom line. You are not responsible for their reactions or emotions. You’re only responsible for your own. So don’t stress what they’re going to do or say! The pregnancy isn’t about them. 
And last thought, they may just surprise you and be happy for you. 💜 good luck !!

I waited to tell my estranged mother until 20 weeks. That way I had less time to deal with her shit. Maybe just wait a while? 🤷🏼‍♀️

We posted a framed ultrasound picture because my hubby wasn’t on speaking terms with his Mum.
Our son is now 6 weeks & I guess she will meet him sooner or later. I’m not excited seeing her since it’s now been over 1.5years since I last saw her face.

Ha! Sounds like my in laws :) we took them out for dinner, and then my husband announced afterwards in the kitchen. They were shocked to say the least. Luckily they were not rude, they did ask “are we happy about this?” And we were like ‘um yes’, but beyond that it wasn’t too bad. They decided to hug us and say congrats after that. I genuinely thought my MIL was gonna faint (we all did, she took it the hardest.)
In the end we just ripped it off like a band-aid and I think that was for the best. My only suggestion is that your partner be the one to make the announcement. Best of luck!!
