Does anyone use a Fitbit?

Question

I am looking into getting one but i use machines (stair master, bike, elliptical, treadmill) more so then just walking. Do all fitbits count calories? My friend has one but said It doesn’t recognize when you are on a machine. I would love some guidance, thanks!!

Love my Fitbit. Been using them for years. It can count steps, stairs, distance, heart rate etc.

It will know when you move it. My husband has one and it doesn't count steps when shopping with a cart at the grocery store. As long as your arms are free to move naturally then it will count steps (it didn't work when I had my hand resting on the handle of my purse when I was shopping.) So it depends on what you do with your arms when using the machines.

I have the Fitbit Alta and being 31wks pregnant I walk in my treadmill 30min every morning and in order for my steps to count I have to make sure my arms are moving with me while I’m walking so can’t hold onto the rails so maybe that’s what your friends talking about
It also doesn’t record my heart rate so maybe look into the other Fitbits if you want more things

If you want accuracy go with a Garmin. Pricey for the good ones, but so worth it! I currently use an apple watch and it seems to do a good job when I’m on my bike or elliptical! 👍🏻

I use a garmin, way cheaper, and it works great, I use the arm swinging pieces on my elliptical and it doesn't give me any problems, tracks all sorts of stuff including sleep patterns, for less than $70. It has an app that works with mobile devices and doesn't have to be charged, it has a battery.
