Do you believe abusers can change?

Question

Do you believe that the abuser that has been physically and emotionally abusive in relationship has the potential to change? For example, if a person you were in a romantic relationship with physically abused you do you believe they will abuse their next partner? Do you think change is possible?

maybe if they actually accepted they had a problem and sought help. the problem is, many abusers are either incapable of seeing their faults or willingly continue them despite knowing what they're doing is wrong.

An abuser has to feel truly remorseful, admit that they have a problem & commit to doing all the work it takes to change. Abusers don't become abusive over night. Their actions follow a thought pattern & a set of beliefs that have been formed over their lifetime. If there are no negative consequences for being abusive they rarely change. It's difficult to change and most human beings require a lot of suffering before they change. Most never do. That's the sad truth. So is it Possible? Yes. Probable? No.

If they choose to change, they can change. There's been quite a few abusers who have changed, but then there always are those abusers who will not change. It's all a matter of if they want to change or not.

If someone wants to change, they will. If not, no one can change or help them!🙏🏻
