Advice

I really like really like this guy when I was little me and his younger sister were best friends and he and my older sister were friends we all kinda grew apart but me and him have started texting a lot but i am the only one who starts the conversation i am really insecure and i don't know if I am being clingy is he just being nice to me i really want him to start conversations so I don't feel annoying do I say something to him. Do I leave it. If one of us has to stop talking for the day he almost always says I hope to talk to you tomorrow. Is that his way of encouraging me but if that is his way why can't he start the conversation Please help I have no clue what to do
