Hand Foot Mouth - Did you catch it?

I just found out yesterday my daughter has HFM. She had a fever Sunday and mouth sores yesterday. She is actually doing pretty well so far and handling it like a champ 🤞
I, however, am due to leave for a wedding on Friday and terrified I will catch it, because I really don't want to miss this trip! Articles online say it's rare but I feel like a lot of parents get it. Did you? How long after your child getting it did you start to have symptoms? Thanks!

My two older sons 2 and 1 at the time got it. My husband and I did not. Just wash your hands A LOT.

My little cousin had it, she gave it to my other cousin (also her cousin) who gave it to my cousin in law (the dad). My son had herpangina which is very similar to HFM, no one else caught it. We made sure to sanitize everything and spray down the house every night once our son went to bed.

My son had it just this last week. We didn’t know at first and me and my SO were sharing things with him. And with him being so little, I was drooled on, he ate off my utensils, he gave me kisses and loves since he didn’t feel good. And I didn’t catch it. It’s extremely contagious but I didn’t take any precautions to avoid getting it and I never got it

I did not catch it. My son got it at 8 months. My coworker on the other hand did. So did her husband. She was out of work for a week from it. It’s very painful as an adult.

I had it a couple years ago. Honestly, it sucked, but you are already no longer contagious by the time you get the sores, so even if you do catch it, you could still attend your wedding. Just a bit uncomfortably.
