Is there really reason for excitement?

I was reading an article from BBC and saw a few other article about how a body of water was found on Mars. Some called this a game changer when it comes to looking for life on other planets. I guess I fail to see the reason for excitement or how it's game changing even after having read the articles. I thought I'd bring it to CC.

I find it exciting because it's really cool. I mean, we're literally exploring another planet. How dope is that? I'm less excited when people talk about humans inhabitanting another planet. We'll just fuck that one up as well.

Honestly I have a hard time being excited due to the fact that I think we would just end up destroying another planet because humans are selfish and don't really think

I think yes and no. While it is neat and could be a sign of other life, it doesn’t necessarily mean that. Who is to say other life forms would even need water? Lol maybe I’m too out there with my thinking, but I do find it interesting that we’re learning more and more about other planets. I think it’s kind of expected though isn’t it? I don’t expect Earth to be the only planet with water and other things as well.

Considering life randomly just appears out of no where in our salt water tank I think it’s likely with water they will find some sort of life. I don’t find any of this stuff exciting tho...if anything it scares me a bit. I don’t like to go searching for the unknown

I find it exciting because I love science. It’s exciting to know we are learning more about our world, our world including all of space and the unknown not just Earth.

I’ll be more excited when we find fossils or something. I think it’s super dope we’re exploring other planets and all, but I just think we have so many problems here on earth that we could be using that money to help us now too.
