While I understand the point, and hear what’s being said...Demi Lovato isn’t white 😑

I personally don’t understand why this is news. People overdose and are brought back with Narcan every day. People go in and out of rehab, people die and families are torn apart. But because these celebrities are doing it, suddenly it’s all anyone can talk about. I don’t care what you do for a living, what race you are or what you have between your legs. Being a drug addict is nothing special, it’s just sad for everyone involved. Here’s to hoping they all get the help they need and are able to go home to their families and live a happy life.

I remember watching how the media painted Odoms addiction and his hospitalization. It was gross and incredibly sad. They focused on his race and relationship with the Kardashian family, rather then what led him to that point and how miraculously he recovered. 
And considering that Demi Lovato is a very close friend of Kim Kardashian, they have yet to bring that up or her addiction. The media has portrayed her incident as a terrible "tragedy".

Maybe it’s more of a gender thing than race? Lil peep was white and when he died of from taking drugs, not many people were sympathetic towards his situation.

First of all...Demi Lovato isn’t white. Secondly, I heard plenty of people concerned over Lamar’s condition when that whole thing was going on. I’ve heard negative things as well from people on social media about both Lamar and Demi. 
I understand the point of this post, but it doesn’t really apply to this comparison or situation.

Here the media on his addiction wasn’t really covered negatively or much at all. Maybe because his fan base isn’t as big here. Demi has been getting both negative and positive attitudes though. On the radio there was a brutal talk about how we treat celebrities with addiction vs regular people. So that’s something more of the topic here, since we have a lot of homeless with addiction and nobody seems to care.

I mean I still think the same thing I thought 20 mins ago. 
It’s not exclusively true because the same people saying peep deserved it are now giving pity to Demi. 
But literally now heroin is seeping into “everyone’s problem” you can FINALLY see the progress. Civilian accessed Narcan is a prime example, though I’m personally grateful for it (no matter what my ex did to me, I’m still glad I could keep him alive). 
But I’m just hoping its because its 2018 and we understand addiction more etc but I have a pessimistic feeling that isn’t the reason why more people on the lawful side now suddenly care because even Bethany and Chad can fall victims to opiate abuse
