Progesterone - helpful?

I was so excited to learn I was pregnant with my first baby. Especially because I’m in my mid 30s. Sadly, when I went in to hear its heartbeat I endured an awkward silent session followed by the doc coming in to tell me there was no heart beat and I should schedule a D&C; because a miscarriage was coming. He suggested I come back before trying again to get progesterone. It’s been 3 mos and I think we are ready to try but am not sure if I should go in for this. Anyone have experience with taking it? Feel like it’s necessary? Am I going to lose another baby if I don’t ?? Thank you!
