Cats and pregnancy

I am a full time nanny & 5 weeks pregnant.

I have not told the family I work for that I am pregnant yet because it’s early and I leave to go to a new position in a month anyways. They just text me saying they are getting a cat from the shelter today. I’ve heard that when pregnant you need to be super careful around cats and their litter. Is this true? If it is then I need to tell the parents ASAP that I’m pregnant so that they don’t expect me to clean the litter, etc.
