11-month-old fell about 12 inches and hit the back of his head, could he get a concussion or just a bad goose egg?

He was napping on a mattress and rolled off, he’s playing right now, but he’s a little fussy & acting tired (probably because his nap abruptly ended, but it could be because of the hit too) 
What should I do?

He’s probably ok, heads are tough! If he’s playing and not drowsy like falling asleep I would think he’s just had a bump. If you’re worried he’s acting different then get him checked. Mine climbs everything so has had a good few bumps but he’s always been fine

Blows to the back of the head are more worrisome than blows to the front of the head.

My mom's an EMT and has told me if it bumps out its more likely to be ok, if it indents take the babe to the er

the first time my daughter fell off the couch she was 6 months. I called the pediatrician and was told that as long as she's acting normal and isn't bleeding or swollon or bruised she's fine. just monitor closely for a couple days. now she's 10 months and constantly banging up herself. her bed is about a foot off the floor and although she knows the right way to get off she will now and then launch herself off. I think he will be fine because by now his skull is hardening up but call his doctor anyway. that way if something really is wrong, they have on file that you did check into it

My nephew was sleeping once and fell from the bed. He fractured his arm :( took him to his pediatrician and he was like oh he is fine don’t worry. I didn’t believe  him so I took him to a urgent care and they found out it was fractured. Honestly I would just take him in just to make myself feel at ease. Better safe than sorry. Sorry that happened to your baby though. Hope he feels better soon

My daughter got a mild concussion around 4 months old from hitting the front of her head. It was very scary because I didn't know anything was wrong until she started throwing up. She was hard to keep awake on the ride to the ER. I was so scared, but she ended up being fine. The doctor said any time a baby falls from a height and hits their head, they should be examined. You can go to your normal doctor on an emergency appointment, call and most will squeeze you in, or go to urgent care if you don't want to go to the ER. Better to be safe than sorry in my opinion.

my daughter has rolled off her mattress a few times and never even ended up with a slight bump...if he has a distinctive bumb you should take him to be seen because that wouldn't be normal for such a slight fall

Call the doctor and just see what they say. My daughter has fallen honestly two billion times (from natural baby clumsiness 🤦) and she's fine, but if you feel like this one was particularly hard it doesn't hurt to ask.
