When does the first trimester end?

I have always thought it's 12 so I know it sounds like a dumb question but I just read an article that stated your second trimester doesn't start until 14 weeks since you're pregnant for 40...

I think the misconception is bc after 12 weeks the risk of miscarriage decreases significantly so a lot of us assumed that was the end of first tri.

A trimester is 3 months so week 13 is the start of your 2nd trimester : )

My midwife said 12 weeks and that’s a good week because you also go to a very low percentage of miscarrying
