Choking while nursing?

My little one is 4 days old and after a few minutes of nursing she’ll start choking..? It scared the crap out of me! It’s happened twice today

Your letdown might be too fast for her. Try nursing a bit reclined so the milk doesn’t come out as quickly.

I have this problem when I'm really engorged. I have a fast let down, you probably do too. When I'm really engorged i will lean back a little so the flow isn't too fast for him.

I agree with the other poster, it is most likely your letdown. Her suggestion to recline is great, although my baby never let me do that, so another option is to pump off the letdown so it slows down a little.

My daughter has this issue, too. It usually happens if I waited longer than usual to nurse. I will pump for a few minutes until my milk lets down - when you can see the milk flowing consistently - and then stop and let her nurse the rest of the time. I don’t feel my let down either, but I figured it out when I started pumping that it doesn’t take long for my milk to let down and it moves fast!
