Birth control???

I'm 16 and want to go on birth control next week but I dont want too many side effects and I read that combination pills caused more serious side effects like blood clots and unusual vaginal bleeding ect. whats the best option?

I had an horrific time on the combination pill and the mini pill and I wouldn’t recommend them. Personally I’ve had a great time on the implant and IUD. The pill is very strict with timing whereas you don’t have to worry about that with the implant and IUD, also they aren’t affected by vomiting or diarrhoea

Eh, im 17 and haven't really had too many problems with the combination pill. Guess it's up to the person. Symptoms are there sometimes, but not really as frequent or severe as I thought they'd be. I'm pretty good about taking it with lunch every day so it's not on an empty stomach, maybe that's why the symptoms aren't so bad. the leaflet made it seem like I was going to hate my life for the first three months of taking it, but honestly it just sorta felt like normal period symptoms for ab extra week or so. hope this helps

Mini pill is so much more strict than the combination pill. You have to take it at the EXACT time every day and if you don’t take it within about 30 mins of your every day time you’re screwed. Combination pill can have up to I think 3-6 hours depending on the type. Check the pill pack when you get it, but I would not recommend the mini pill unless you know you’ll be able to get it PERFECT.

I have Nuvaring and I’ve had no major side effects. The only effects it’s had was making me a little dryer during sex but it went away after a few months. Plus shorter/lighter and less painful periods! So it’s always an option
