help me understand ? dosage folic acid?!

iv been taking pregnancy vitamins which contain 500 micrograms but due to fee things she wants me to take 5000micrograms so i bought folic acid tablets, which contain 500micrograms of folic acid, does that mean i need to be taking 9 folic acof tablets and one of my usual pregnancy vitamins?? 
that siunds ridiculous!

That does sound a lot of folic acid to take, I would phone your doctors and ask them to do you a prescription for amount you need to take, as they can prescribe a tablet that has higher dosage then the one you can buy yourself.

Don't know where you're from? Here in Europe its 400/500 microgram a day. I read in an article that in US, pregnant women with high risk of neural tube defects, sometimes are advised to take 5mg, so thats the amount they tell you to take. So, if you're not in a higher risk category, you should be fine with 500 microgram. maybe you could ask for a second opinion? good luck😄
