opinion / advice on what to do??

Question

So I was petting my kitty and I noticed there was some kind of hard fur, well at least I thought, so I thought she probably has a mat there (she's got a lot of fur so she gets then sometimes) and then I looked and saw this! I don't even know what happened or even how it happened. It's sore for her (obviously) should I take her to the vet to get it looked at? It looks worse in person.

i had a cat that used to get stressed out and get sores from pretty much chewing on herself. very similar to this. i would take the cat in to be looked at and make sure it doesn't get infected.

yeah take her, they may clip the fur around it and either glue the skin together or let it heal by itself. but you may need some antibiotics for her

Alright, thanks girls, the vet is closed today due to a holiday where I am. But I'll definitely call tomorrow and get her in asap.

Clean it with salt water if she’ll let you, and if you think she needs to see a vet then make an appointment. It may just be able to heal in its own with cleaning though.
