Is it worth paying for the 4D ultrasound?

I keep seeing everyone's 4D ultrasound pictures and it's just so cute and so sweet, but the packages are so pricey! I'm a little nervous because when we did the regular anatomy scan, my baby wouldn't let us see between her legs... The blood test said girl at 13 weeks, but I was looking forward to that extra confirmation... My insurance won't cover another scan just for the gender, but as I said it's a bit pricey for the 4D packages... Is it really worth getting it done? I mean, it would be so cool to get a sneak peak of what she will look like, but I could be using that money for things she will be needing like extra wipes/diapers etc... Has anyone NOT got it and regretted it? Or got it and thought "meh, it wouldn't have hurt to wait it out" or something..?

I get them weekly at my ob. I really would NOT pay for one at 20 weeks like someone else said. The best ones I got were at 28 wks, 31 wks, & even 35 wks. Mine from 20 wks looks 100% nothing like what my daughter looks like at all those other ones, so it would definitely be a waste of money that early on.

super worth it but wait till after 20-23 weeks, because then they start putting on fat and looking more like they will at birth.

Around 20 weeks is the best time to do it and SOOO worth it!!! I got another at 28 weeks and she was just too squished and uncooperative so I definitely recommend around 20 weeks like the one below. So so worth it! It’s like i got a new rush of excitement getting a glimps of what she could look like.

Have you tried looking around for free 4D scans? My sister went to southwest school and they did it for free

I don’t think we would have paid for one but being high risk has its perks! I would wait until a little further along if you are going to pay.

That was at 25 weeks, I believe. She hadn’t started putting weight on just yet and looked super skinny lol!

That’s 29 weeks! (First one is in HD, this one isn’t, I just think this one came out better than it’s HD version). I’m 31 weeks now and still get my 3D shots twice a week but she is so squished now! She’s always favored hugging my placenta but it’s been really hard to get a decent shot the last few times. My tech at the last scan couldn’t even get a good one since she is so low and has her face smooshed in my placenta lol. This was at 31 weeks and it took forever just to get this shot but my tech was persistent haha.

I got it because I knew I would totally regret it if I didn’t ! And im so glad I did even if he doesn’t look like this when he arrives he looked like that in there and i think that’s pretty amazing to capture that moment !

I wouldn’t get one until after 20-25 weeks. I had a 3D scan at 14 weeks and it wasn’t too impressive. Luckily I didn’t pay for it, the tech just showed me baby. I like my 2d scan much better.
