How much are STD bills?

So in July, I went to my doctor to get the Nexplanon birth control and also got my annual check up, Pap smear, etc. My doctor asked me if I wanted to get std tests done and I said yes. Well, everything came back negative but I just got billed $700 for all of the tests done. Does this seem ridiculous? I’m in KY and on my parents insurance (insurance only paid $8)

if the provider was out of network thats not that high actually or they applied it to your deductiable which isnt insane either. call insurance and get a copy of the eob and look at it

Honestly it doesn’t seem high for the charges that would get sent to your insurance, it just sounds like your insurance didn’t cover them. I would call your insurance and see what the problem is. There are tons of possibilities, many of which are easily fixed.
Call the insurance first and go from there.

Is the provider in network for your insurance? That seems high for labs unless it was out of network. 
Usually diagnostic testing hits your deductible if you have one. If not, you should dig deeper into what they’re doing.

A lot of insurance require pre authorization before any kind of test bf that isn’t part of the regular pap.
