Testing?

Question

Anybody else elect to do testing? We were offered 2 types, the Carrier screening by Natera Horizon and the NIPT by Natera Panorama. We elected to do both just for peace of mind. No significant family history and I’m a FTM and 34yo. Tell me what testing you did and your experience/results?
Anxious for gender results as well! Here is my 11wUS. Any guesses? The nurse couldn’t accurately say if it was an umbilical cord, arm, leg lol

I did carrier testing before TTC. We did the 10 week free cell testing. Also Nuchal Translucency ultrasound at 13 weeks and next week we do AFP.
My husband and I had long talks about what we would do before we TTC. We agreed that we did not want a trisomy child of any kind and would drive 3 hours if we needed to get CVS to confirm before termination. We are very intellectual people and it would crush us if our child couldn’t think fully. I’m also 38

I had both done. The carrier screen before pregnancy, and the cell free screen at 10 weeks. I am one for information, and I think I would’ve had really tough decisions to make if I were a carrier or the fetus was high risk. But there are options for either. If the fetus tested high risk, i personally was ready for amniocentesis and possibly another really tough choice. Some people are firmly in the I don’t want to know camp and I get that. I guess think about how you would feel and what you would do with the results. Doctors tend to like them because it gives them better information to care for you and baby moving forward. They are just screens though - they will only give you probability, not guarantees.

I did the NIPT and carrier screen through counsyl.  It was nerve wracking for sure but I'm so glad I did it! We had two prior miscarriages and we wanted to have all the information possible with this baby.  Before this baby I was very much against it but after my second loss I really wanted to be informed and know my risks or if we were carriers for something.  Turns out I am not a carrier for a few inherited conditions they tested me for and baby is low risk for trisomy 13, 18 & 21 👍. Also we got an envelope with the gender and plan to reveal soon 😊
