Keira? Spelling?

I like the name Kyra (keer-uh) but I dislike the spelling Kyra. Is Keira an okay spelling? Maybe Kiera? But isn’t that pronounced differently? Do you prefer that pronunciation? I’m thinking it’s like “key-air-uh”

Keira is the normal spelling. Kyra (Kye-ruh) is a different name entirely.

Kyra should be KYE-ruh 
Keira should be KEER-uh
Kira should be KEER-uh
Sometimes people do use a pronunciation contrary to the typical rules of the language. But these are your best bets.

I know a girl named Kyra who pronounces it kee-ra, so it isn't always pronounced how it looks. Keira or Kiera both look like the pronunciation you're going for, but I like Kira best. Keeps it simple and there's basically no way to mispronounce it lol.

Kiera is the traditional Irish spelling which is what we went with to honour my grandparents. 🙂 We pronounce it Keer-ah.

My 2 year old is Keira and everyone spells it 1) Kiera or 2) Kira. Drives me nuts! Even when I text back Keira they still get it wrong. Argh!

Keira is the best spelling IMO. Just like Keira Knightly. That’s how you pronounce her name too.
