Engaged at 17?

so I just turned 17 two months ago and my boyfriend is about to be 20. when school starts I'll be a junior and my boyfriend is going to be in the army sometime this year. he is already enlisted. He engaged and I said yes so now we're planning a wedding for a little while after I turn 18. I really love him and we been together for a year.  would I be missing out on anything if we marry and possibly have children young,  if so what?

You won’t feel like you missed out until you’re in your 30-40’s. So the younger people commenting they’re not missing out they don’t know yet. Been there and 35 now so yes you miss out having a family young.

My then best friend did that in high school. She ended up getting divorced about 4 years later. I would wait.

I think being so young it’s beneficial to wait til you’re a little older to get married. My husband was with his ex wife 6 years before getting married it went up in flames. I was with my ex 7 years and ended up breaking up because we just weren’t meant to be
I know some young couples have made it, but just from experience what’s the rush?

Go with your heart. So many people will have their experiences and opinions but ultimately you do what you both feel as a couple is best. 
My hubby and I got engaged in HS after 8 months of dating, married at 19 years old after 1 year of 4 months dating and we are celebrating 7 years this year!! Never played “house” to see if it would work, never questioned if it was a mistake. There have been hard times but ultimately growing and changing together in some of your most pivotal years has been so much fun for us!!
We own our own house, no debt besides it. College degrees, paid off cars, we go on vacation at least twice a year. It’s a blast!!

You'll just never know till later. There's only so much time. Some people do everything and are say alone at 50 with regrets. Some marry at 17 and cheated on by 20. Some have the perfect life. Some don't. Use the time as you would like to, because it's your time.

I wouldnt say its normal but it's not wrong either. but I would wait until you're 18 to make permanent decisions. plan your wedding but dont actually make deposits or buy things yet

I got engaged at 17 my husband was 22 serving and we got married a year ago im now 19 and we’re happier than ever 😅❤️ ups and downs will always exist .. Age has nothing to do its the mentality

Sooo... some people would consider me too young to be engaged. I've had friends who have gotten engaged at 16, 17, 19, 21, etc etc etc.
A friend from high school got engaged at 16, graduated early, and is now a happily married nurse with 3 kids and an adoring husband. Two of my college buddies got engaged at 21 so she wouldn't have to leave the states after her student visa was up (they were dating at the time) and are still very in love. I grew up with a guy who is serially engaged since the ages of 17-- he's 28 and on engagement #5 and almost-wedding #2. One of my favorite teachera got engaged at 50 and is still madly in love with her fiance two years, later. Another girl got engaged at 25 and broke it off two months later. My childhood best friend is with her first boyfriend. My lab partner in college was divorced at 20. 
Some young relationships last, and others don't. Just like literally all other relationships. People are always growing and changing, and that affects our relationships with our partners. Sometimes we grow with them, and sometimes we outgrow them.
You're young. For some there is a HUGE difference of maturity and life experience between a 17 and 20, but everyone matures and changes at different rates. I'm not going to say you're INHERENTLY too young-- that would be presumptuous.
What I will say, is that engagements are really serious for some. Some view it as marriage with training wheels, for some it sets out an intention to be together forever, and for some people it's just a way of delineating a deeper phase of the relationship between dating and marriage that is used to determine if you REALLY want to marry this person.
The world is really intense at 17, and only you can know if you have the real deal. Just know it can be a really big, adult decision with adult impact-- one of many adult situations that's being heaped on you in i increasing quantities right now. People will judge. It will change your relationship (in positive, negative, and neutral ways). And you will carry the intensity, memories, and impact of this relationship for the rest of your life.
If you feel good about everything that comes with being engaged, that's probably a good sign. And at the end of the day, if you're safe, happy, and well, that's all that matters.
