I Was Right!

Corinne

A few weeks ago, I did the fasting glucose test and felt fine the whole time; so of course I expected to pass.

When the news came back that my 1st out of 3 tests came back with a high glucose level and that I had GD, I was both confused and annoyed.

My midwife told me I needed to get on the right diet and start testing my levels right away, but I wasn't able to get ahold of my primary care provider. In that time, I was eating right and trying to be aware of any differences I might feel after eating certain foods, but felt no different.

This made me suspect that it might've been a bad result and I went and looked up the meds I was on during that test and found out that Welbutrin messes with your glucose levels.

I have recently gotten off of the Welbutrin (as planned, under the care of my psychiatrist) and decided I wanted to retest.

Well, I got my results today and wow, what a difference! My fasting glucose level went from 140 on Wellbutrin to 68 off of it; well below a dangerous level! No GD for me.

So I just had to come on here and post so that you all remember to be your own advocate when it comes to matters of healthcare; you might just spare yourself a lot of difficulty.
