Life jacket on inside?

My husband and I were talking about Thanksgiving since he is working that day. I will have our toddler and baby at my famly member's house that has a pool without a fence. We plan to have him wear a life vest inside even just im case he happens to slip by and run outside quick. Anyone ever do this?? Drowning is such a real fear that happens so so fast.

That would be uncomfortable to wear a life vest all day. I would just not leave his side 🤷🏻‍♀️ ... But my husband and I are those type of parents that watches every move our toddler makes. 😂 My som loves outlets and trying to plug everything into them.

if hes big enough find a puddle jumper, they can be a little more mobile in those than the old school life vests.

If it is a big gathering with lots of people going in and out of the house, too many people to mind the door being open ... then yes life jacket all day.
It’s easier to mind a toddler in a smaller group, and remind them of keeping doors closed when they leave, for like 4 people I would say just watch him.

I think it’s a great idea. Obviously monitor your kid 24/7 but after reading so many sad stories lately, you can’t be too careful.

Is there maybe a less bulky type of life jacket? I totally would since thanksgiving tends to have lots of people and I’m sure they’d be going in and out. I’d rather be safe then thinking what if. However, it does sound super uncomfortable. I would look around to see if there’s a more comfortable life vest of sorts! But a great idea!

Better safe than sorry. We didn't have the money to do swimming lessons starting at 6 months, but next child we will. Totally worth it. They teach the babies (fully clothes, because chances are they would have clothes on) to turn over and scream while floating on their back till an adult comes.
