Does anyone have any experience with exotropia?

My 9 month old has a lazy eye, its intermittent but her pediatrician said that she needs to be seen by an optometrist. Her doctor said that the worse case scenario if, it isn't rectified while young, is blindness in her one eye. I'm mortified by the thought of having a blind child especially, if it can be fixed. The problem is, we need pictures of her eye doing it and that's a challenge in itself.

i had lazy eye from birth, it really depends on why its not tracking straight. see an eye dr that specializes in pedi eye problems. my parents brought me from puerto rico to houston tx to a specialist and i had 4 surgeries before i even started school. i am forever grateful they did. never had a problem since. the younger your child is when you take care of it the better, kids heal faster and chances are they wont remember much.

That is a very very worst case scenario! Lots of children have a lazy eye that self corrects with glasses. My MIL has one that was left untreated when she was younger so it is permanent, I actually didn’t notice it for YEARS because it’s fine most of the time, and worsens when her brain is exhausted or she is having extreme anxiety. She is not blind in one eye, and she wears contacts/glasses.

My husband had a lazy eye as a child and had to wear a patch which corrected his eye. His brother never had his corrected but can see fine he just looks a little different. At my son’s 9 month well baby the pedi was concerned that he had a lazy eye but we saw the eye doctor and he said that my son was fine. Some times babies look like they have a lazy eye just because they don’t have enough strength yet. 
This is him last yr but now his eyes look fine

My cousin has a lazy eye. She wore a patch and glasses for years. Unfortunately it never corrected (she can see tho and she drives) so it looks a little odd at times
