I delivered my baby in the car!

Ali • 1st baby boy born June 1, 2017. 2nd little guy born August 27, 2018. 3rd boy March 26, 2021, and pregnant with baby #4 due December 6, 2022 😍 I LOVE BEING A MOM.

What. A. Morning. I will never forget the way that my second son made his entrance into the world. I’ll start off by saying that my first baby came pretty fast as well. But nothing could have prepared me for my second birth. My doctor started checking my dilation at week 36 and I was 2.5 cm and 75% effaced. 37 weeks I’m 3 cm. 38 weeks I’m 4 cm. And 39 weeks I’m 5 cm. 🤦🏼‍♀️ at this point, I’m so anxious to meet my little guy because I know it’s coming soon and I knew it would be fast. The day before I delivered, I was super emotional and just had a feeling that it would be happening soon. My husband, my son and I all went to my parents house for dinner on Sunday. We joked about how fast this one would come and I said “yeah watch me have a car baby.” MISTAKE NUMBER 1. Never joke about having a car baby. It really happens people. 😂 Anyway. We get home and go to sleep like any other night. I woke up a couple times throughout the night feeling slightly crampy. Nothing alarming. Then at 5:45 am I had one contraction that woke me up out of a dead sleep and thought ok this is probably it. Not wanting to wake my husband just yet, I go downstairs and time a few of them. 3 minutes apart. 2 minutes apart. Ok this is really happening. I go back to the bedroom and my husband just knew that this was it. He had already texted his boss that he would not be making it to work. At this point, it is 6:10 am. I text my mom who lives 45 minutes away and tell her that I’m in labor and I plan on leaving for the hospital at 7:30 am. My mom showers and starts heading to my house because I was determined to let my 15 month old son continue sleeping while we went to the hospital. Contractions are ramping up fast. Like. Holy shit these are painful. I text my mom a couple more times to see where she’s at and I’m starting to get a little worried. We live by an air force base, so traffic anywhere around us is complete mayhem on a Monday morning. I’m getting on all fours and ripping off my pants every time a contraction comes. I have no idea why I did that. People do weird shit when they’re in pain. My husband has me get in the car so that we can just go when my mom arrives. My 15 month old was awake at this point. So my mom pulls up, we had her my first baby and off we went. We literally make it 1 mile up the road and see this traffic. Just a whole shit show mess. I’m screaming through contractions and they are on top of each other. My husband looks at me and says “babe, I don’t know what to do.” We both knew we weren’t making it to the hospital. He turned the car around and I said you need to call 911. He drives maybe 30 seconds down the road and I let out this monster scream while he’s on the phone with the operator. He pulls over, I rip my pants off and stand up in the front seat. I’m grunting and pushing through these contractions. I felt his head in the birth canal... ring of fire.. one more push and I caught my sweet little boy and brought him to my chest. He cried right away. Sweet relief. I was so at peace in that moment. Holy shit. I just delivered my own baby. This was happening while my husband was on the phone with 911, walking around the car and trying to lay my seat back. He looked up front because he heard him cry and said “he’s here! He’s all here!” He got him blankets and the blue suction bulb so I could clean him up a bit. The ambulance is pulling up now. They clamp the cord and get me on the gurney so we could head to the hospital. My sweet Asher Bryan was born at 7:30 am August 27th 2018 weighing 7lbs 2oz and 19.5 in long after just 1 hour and 45 minutes of labor. He could not be more perfect.
