Different Vasectomy’s?

So I was talking to my fiancé’s ex wife about how we’re getting a reversal and i wanted to know what was done and she’s telling me that he just got clipped and something about a rubber band of some sorts? His V only took 10 minutes so I’m wondering if he really didn’t get cut just had titanium clips put on? 
Yes, I’m going to call the original V place! I’m just wondering because I didn’t know if that would make a difference on the reversal

Yes there are different methods and it would depend on the doctor’s preference, and also how long ago the procedure was done (the way they were performed 20 years ago is different to now, as technology and research improves)

Oh, and be sure to op for a vasectomy reversal using no less than a 3 or 4 layer connection using 10-0 sutures in the innermost layer, and nothing larger than 9-0 sutures for the other layers.
The only other things to help increase success rate would be to definitely select a robotic or microsurgical (with a microscope) reversal over a doctor who uses loupes, and if the doctor offers bio-wrap, def ask about that to see if it could help with longterm success of the VR or not.
Last, choose a urologist who specializes in VR's, and see how many they have done, total, and what their success rate is, and how many they do per operation day.  Some schedule back-to-back surgeries, which isn't good.

Some doctors will snip and actually remove a section of the vas, while others will just snip and then separate the vas with either small clips or sutures.  I prefer the latter, since a reversal can be often easier if the vas wasn't cut short and a section, removed.
There's also three types of reversal methods worth looking into for anyone interested; traditional, with loupes, microscope-assisted, and robotic-assisted, using the Davinci robot. Also, not all doctors are able or willing to perform a VE (vasoepididymostomy) if a regular Vas to vas connection can't be done, so for anyone scheduling a VR, def ask about that when choosing a VR doctor.

It is my understanding from our VR Dr that the type of method used in the original vasectomy is irrelevant when it comes to the success or failure of your reversal. The surgeon cuts off the damaged part of the vas on each side & connects above it. The specific method used  doesn’t help or hurt your chances of success after, although if the sections are too short to connect he can connect to the epidymis (I’m sure I spelled that wrong, sorry). Then recovery would be a bit longer. Just double check that your specific Dr is fellowship trained to do both procedures as ours only did straight vas-to-vas. Sometimes the other procedure is needed if there is a blockage. Good luck on your journey.❤️
