Anyone else not having a baby shower?

Question

My husband and I moved out of state and we dont have any friends or family in the area that we would invite so we chose not to have one. Though it felt less like a choice and more like the only option.
Anyone else in a similar boat?
We are hoping to do a post baby being born party and go back to our hometown to see everyone. I feel like that would be nice cause then they'll be able to meet the little guy too! What do yall think?
In the meantime do you think it appropriate to still post our baby registries on social media? I've had some people ask if we have one even though we aren't having a party but I'm just not sure...

One of my best friends was living out of state throughout her pregnancy and her mother threw her a "mail shower", she sent each of the guests a large envelope with a card and envelope to write a note for the mama and baby, some burp cloths and iron on transfer fabric to make gifts, some little cards to do birthdate guesses and other wishes for baby, and a return addreseed stamped manilla envelope to send everything back. She also included registry information. My friend was so grateful for the flood of gifts, well wishes and other surprises she got in the mail, and she told everyone that made it a lot easier being away from her friends and family during a time when she wanted so much to share what she was going through.

I had one so I can’t speak to that BUT as for posting your registry, I say go for it. People here do it all the time. And you’ve had friends ask! Just add something like, “People have been asking for our registry so I figured I should share it” or something like that. Then, if people want to, they can send you something. If not, no pressure.

Yes!  We are also doing an after baby baby shower!  When we send out the invites we will add the registry info.  We will just buy the things we need for the first few months ourselves and then add stuff for a slightly older baby (3 mos+) for the shower.

I think it’s nicer to have them after the baby is born anyway. Then people get to actually see the baby. I didn’t have one before. I don’t know the gender. With my first we had it after as well. I am more paranoid this time only because I worry about so many people holding the baby, I may just wait a while until after the first immunization. Haven’t really thought I much about it yet.

Yep none for me! My family and friends live in Germany. Moved here cause hubby is in the army and don’t feel like celebrating with people I don’t even know from his work. 🙃 also we basically have everything we need so I don’t want to get a ton of stuff that we have to ship all the way back to Germany in December 😂😎

I would send out announcement cards and do a baby registry on Amazon so friends and family can send you gifts! It’s seriously like Christmas when you come home to an unexpected box of baby stuff! 🤗
