Does this sound shady?

Alright my boyfriend and me have been together for 1 year and 5 months..today he was kind of sad? I guess..? as he said “Marie can I be honest with you? I think we need a break” and I said “sure, but what do you define as break?” And he said “I’m going through a tough situation right now and I just would like to be left alone?” We are LDR, and he said he didn’t feel comfortable telling me..I thought that was fine since he had family issues a few months ago. And as I said goodnight, he says “I’ll all make sense” does he sound like a cheater? ...I don’t think so but what are y’all opinions ?🤔 I respect his space and plan to leave him be.
