How has hormonal birth control affected your mental and/or physical health?

Hi ladies, I am writing an article for an online magazine about how hormonal birth control has negatively affected my mental and physical health. I would love to get other women’s input, if you have taken hormonal birth control, and would love to hear your experiences on how it has affected your mental/physical health.

My first pill was great until this year. It changed my mental state until I got off of it less than a month later. I switched onto a different brand I feel 10x better. 
Everyone’s body will react differently, especially in the first 3 months. It takes time to adjust. It’s important to tell your gyno if you feel weird

I’ve had the implanon/nexplanon  since I was 16 years old, I’m on my second one now. In imposts between I took the pill to experience a different birth control because I hate the implant. 
When I got my first implant at 16, I don’t think I really noticed any of the side affects  as I was already a crazy hormonal teenager. I lost a lot of weight though, and cried a lot (only side affects I noticed) 
I was 19 when I removed it and went on the pill for something different, I didn’t like the idea of having no control over stopping my contraception whenever I needed/wanted (not taking a pill is easier than booking an appointment with needles and scalpels to remove a stick from my arm) 
So I went on Eleanor, a hormonal birth control pill. 
I looked physically sick, I was getting dizzy spells constantly and put on a few kilos. I was tripping over myself, felt constantly nauseas and felt literally crazy, every time I spoke I genuinely felt like I was out of mind watching  myself speak, it drove me literally crazy. My partner goes away a lot for work and for long periods of time, after a while of taking the pill and dealing with the side affects I’d find myself not taking the pill while he was away because I knew it made me feel so sick and mental, then taking it again 
I was given no education on the other forms of contraception (patch, shot ect) other than the pill or implant & because I’d had such a hard time on the pill I decided just to go back on the implant, I didnt know I had other options. 
I’m now a year into my second implant and it’s made me feel so depressed, I’m always 24/7 thinking about getting it removed but my partner doesn’t want me to because of how affective it is and his reasoning is “you know the side affects with this one, what if you go on something else and the side affects are worse” 
The side affects I’ve dealt with since having this one in have been. 
-constant nausea 
- headaches 
- bloating 
- hot flushes (ALL THE TIME my skin gets so red and I get so sweaty and hot, I literally feel like I’m gonna pass out) 
- dizzy spells, tripping over my own feet at times 
- lowered libido and ability to get “wet” (sorry TMI but 🤷🏽‍♀️ I literally couldn’t care less about sex anymore that’s NOT ME) 
-overall feeling of high anxiety and constantly feeling crazy to the point I want to remove it myself! 
I’ve gone to my doctor about the side affects and he was LESS than helpful, told me I have to deal with or get it out and just use condoms, he never told me about any other forms of contraception and made me feel very unimportant. 
I’ve had to do all my own research on contraception, and feel really sad that my partner doesn’t want me to remove it even though I’m feeling so depressed and can’t deal with the side affects.
