Period panties for girls/teens?

My daughter is 10 and hasn’t started her cycle yet but I would like to prepare a period bag for her to take to school just in case. I’ve been looking at some period panties on amazon some say you need to use sanitary pads/tampons/ panty liners in addition to the underwear. Personally, I don’t believe she is ready for sanitary napkins (she doesn’t like to shower) and we are definitely working on her hygiene. Has anyone tried this with their daughter? I’ve heard some period panties can be used without sanitary napkins. I use a menstrual cup (that thing is amazing) but believe she is too young for that.
