Do you think there should be legal consequences for independent network marketing agents to make false claims with their products?

This makes me sick... my mom is 62 in a nursing home due to advanced Alzheimer's disease.  She doesn't know me or my son anymore.  She calls my brother by the name of my dead uncle.. she thinks her dad is still alive. Very sad.. she cries uncontrollably even if she's happy... 
What I cant stand is multi-level marketing, "holistic" medicine men, making claims that their herbs or oils or tinctures will cure cancer, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, etc... 
Personally I wouldnt feel bad at all if these people faced charges for making false and harmful claims.  Both the company they represent and the individual... what are your thoughts...

On the one hand, buyer beware. However, I do think businesses and marketers should be held accountable for making false claims, whether financial or criminal charges should be dependent on the case.
Snake oil salespeople are everywhere with incurable diseases. Scum, since they often go after vulnerable populations. Some people genuinely believe their own nonsense, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be held accountable for profiting off the sick.

Oh it cures trauma and brain injury? I guess my speech therapist and doctor who helped me speak again and gain full use of my face once more are in the wrong, complete crackpots 🙄. 
It's an insult to professionals who have dedicated their time and money to help understand stuff like Alzheimer's, Brain Injuries, Cancer, etc. I agree with you OP, I'd have no issues seeing these "holistic" pseudoscience promoters get charged for scamming people.
Most of the time they don't even use oils properly and don't know how aromatherapy works...

Yeah that’s a crock of shit. I like some essential oils and think they’re cool for some things but they don’t cure anything. I find it very disrespectful to actual doctors who save lives.

Yes, absolutely. I find the majority of those multi level marketing things to be so completely unethical. I get people are trying to make a buck, but at what expense? Trying to fool vulnerable people who are desperate for some sort of change?

On one hand, I feel bad for MLM distributors because the shitty MLM companies prey on vulnerable women (primarily stay at home moms who do not have good business sense or a solid understanding of science) with the promises of quick riches. It’s really sad. On the other hand, that ignorance doesn’t excuse them from the culpability of selling desperate people useless product. I’d personally be thrilled if all network marketing was made illegal, as it’s the closest thing to a Ponzi scheme this side of legal, but if that’s not a possibility, I do think we should hold the companies and the distributors responsible.

It depends on what they say. If they make obviously fake claims then yes definitely but if it's only misleading? Idk that's a gray area for me. Essential oils can help cancer, they just can't cure it.
