Keto while pregnant?

I'm just curious to know its safe and if anyone has followed the keto diet when pregnant. I used to follow it before I was pregnant and quit when I found out.

don’t quit! just up your carbs to 100 and make sure you meet your protein goal every day, don’t worry too much about the fats but make sure you are getting enough fruits and veggies. staying under 100/150 and upping protein will make for an easy transition after birth.

I’d highly recommend getting off of it. My first prenatal appointment was Monday and I told my OB I was on keto and she said immediately to stop. Even upping your carbs just slightly isn’t enough. It’s not worth it to deprive your baby the nutrition it desperately needs. Just make smart choices! You need the grains and carbs!

I don’t do Keto, but I read somewhere to let your doctor know you are on it so if there are ketones present in your urine they know why.

Like Ella said, you need to up your carbs and protein from the traditional Keto approach. Pregnancy requires more of those as well as calcium and a few other nutrients that are all necessary for baby’s development. Ask your doctor if you can speak to a nutritionist about it; they can refer you.

My doctor said I could continue it! But I was sick and couldn’t and just ate what I could eat. But if your able to stick to it go for it ! Just don’t do any fasting, and try to add in maybe like 500 calories to your macros since u won’t be needing tonactively loose weight while pregnant
