Are irregular periods really that normal?

I’ve talked to my doc what feels like every year explaining to me my symptoms. I can go months without a period, get my period twice in one month, just spot for a day or two or have like a murder scene. And all I hear is it’s normal. I’m on the pill for pain and sexual reasons. But without the pill my back and stomach cramps are unbearable. Any advice? Is this normal?

Yeah, that doesn’t sound like something that’s normal to me. I am NOT a doctor, so I have NO medical knowledge, but the pain is not supposed to be unbearable, for one thing. That’s a condition. I do know, however, that doctors have a nasty habit of taking women’s problems less seriously than men’s, especially involving pain (there are studies that back this up, if you want to do a quick google.) Maybe get a second opinion just to be safe.
